PALE ALE - CLOUDWATER BREW CO.
I must admit I have been out of the game a while in terms keeping up to speed with the ‘Real Ale/Craft Beer’ industry. A few years ago I would have been able to name nearly every brewery and beer across the land but life changes and moves on. Back then, serving cloudy ale would have been unthinkable and thought to be undrinkable. Many a pint were returned to the bar deemed to be faulty. Having re-entered into a beer world vastly different with an abundance of new craft breweries I was keen to try this ‘new’ cloudy phenomena (new to me anyway). Searching social media and reading various beer reviews, Cloudwater Brew Co was a brewery that continually popped up. I visited their online shop and was impressed with the beer options and even purchased a cool taster glass too. I couldn’t wait for the delivery to arrive and had such a high expectation. On its arrival, the first beer I tried was their Pale Ale ‘Soft and Hazy’ and to put it bluntly… it’s the best session pale ale I have tried to date. I like a fruity flavoursome beer and this at 3.7%, this was the fruitiest beer I have experienced. A massive hit of mango and pineapple flavours complimented with the slightest of bitter tastes. I’m pretty sure this beer could convert any non beer loving individual. The smell on opening was full of fruity aromas. Unlike a lot of cans the beer was not over carbonated, only a subtle light fizz which was refreshing. A small pure white head above a cloudy yellow body which looked outstanding. A really fruity beer with a nice body makes it such a drinkable session ale. Perfect for a Summer in the garden. Having spoken to a friend in the trade, he explained that this cloudy beer is produced less refined and less flavour is wasted. What was unthinkable in the past, is now at the forefront of real ale/craft beers. I am now a fan of cloudy beers, Cloudwater Brew Co, and am keen to explore further into this new unchartered territory.
Not only Highly Recommended, Its a must! My favourite to date.
