BOSTON TEA PARTY - BAD CO.
Had this from CWRW, a great little bar in Carmarthen that has opened up as a bottle shop during the COVID-19 lockdown. I have never had anything from Brewing & Distilling Company (BAD CO.) before and knew nothing of the brewery. For some reason I didn’t expect anything mind blowing from the beer. I remember this was a purchase I made to go above the £20 minimum spend to qualify for delivery. It was just something I added to the cart to go above the threshold. Some beers you know before you try that their going to be quality; whether they’ve come from well known breweries or that you’ve read reviews online, but this was one I knew nothing about. My prediction was SO wrong. This beer was a really pleasant surprise. On opening, Citra hop aromas were obvious and a touch of fruitiness in the form of grapefruit and orange. The beer looked tremendous in the glass, thick and opaque, yellow/orange with a contrasting strong persistent white head. At this point I started to realise that perhaps my early assumptions were wrong. As soon as I had taken my first sip the beer it also felt impressive. The body felt well constructed with a creamy feel to it and this was complimented with a lively carbonation that helped deliver the flavours well. On tasting, lemon, grapefruit and orange peel were the most obvious flavours and the bitterness was only ever so slight leaving me with a slight spicy finish/aftertaste. A really refreshing beer from start to finish. A classic NEIPA at great price point.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one, made even more sweeter by the fact that I didn’t expect it! At 5.8% this NEIPA is definitely one to try. Up there with the very best I’ve had recently.
Highly Recommended!
