My best beer of 2020 so far…

A terrific dank DIPA that was rammed full of ripe fruit flavours with the combination of Citra and Nelson hops seriously working their magic. I have been spoiled rotten of late with excellent beers from Polly’s Brew and hold them in high regard but Cloudwater never seem to disappoint and produce absolute quality. This beer was tremendous. On opening, I was hit with fruity aromas and underlying Nelson hops. Once I poured it into the Cloudwater glass I instantly knew I was in for a treat. I often say that the beer I review looks fantastic but on this occasion it looked perfect. A thick, yellow/orange opaque body complimented by a persistent foamy white head. By now I was praying the beer tasted as good as it looked/smelled and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. The body feel was ever so buttery, thick and well constructed. This beer was substantial and felt extremely smooth and was complimented with a spritzer feeling light carbonation that delivered the flavours perfectly. Taste wise, the beer was packed full of ripe fruit flavours; grapefruit, zesty orange, white grape and a grapefruit bitterness to follow. The juicy characteristics of the Citra are ever so well complimented by the dryness brought to the table by the Nelson hops. At 8% this beer had a lovely warming effect and a touch of hop burn that I thoroughly enjoyed and again re-emphasised how good Cloudwater Brewing Co are. I didn’t want it to end, it was fantastic!
