Pale ales are my favourite niche of beers but when I see unusual flavoured beer like this, ‘Vanilla Milkshake Pale’ I instantly worry and expect a potentially sickly overpowering pint. On opening the mini keg I happy with the colour (a deeper pale) and sweet aroma of the beer. On tasting I was even more satisfied; pleasant vanilla notes, very smooth, full bodied, with a nice white head (good retention), and was a very moorish pint. Normally after one specialist flavoured beer like this I tend to move to something more ‘traditional’ however at 4.4% and with such a lovely taste this was a keeper. A fantastic Welsh pint, full of life!
